MELLIES NAMED OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEE OF THE FOURTH QUARTER

10/04/2006 ~ Neil S. Mellies, Transmission & Distribution Substation Electrician, has been named Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) Outstanding Employee of the Fourth Quarter for 2006.

Mellies has worked for the utility for nearly 11 years and is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing of substations, underground facilities, traffic signals and controls, and electrical work at all KEYS facilities. Mellies said he enjoys completing new installations and upgrades, and being able to see his work and how it benefits the system.

Wayne Davila, KEYS Substation Supervisor, said Mellies, “is a dedicated hard worker and is part of the reason the Electrical section is successful.”

The Employee of the Quarter Committee selects an employee four times a year for this award. Employees are considered for the award after being nominated by their peers or supervisors. Final selection of the outstanding employee is based on several factors, which include attendance, attitude, efficiency, initiative, and job performance, among others.

Mellies was born and raised in Key West and is a graduate of Key West High School. He lives in Key West with his wife, Colleen, and has five children: Katie (27), Neil Jr. (23), Raymond (21), Kim (20), and Kenny (18); and grandson David (7). In his spare time Mellies enjoys boating with family and friends.

The Utility Board will recognize Mellies as the Outstanding Employee of the Fourth Quarter for 2006 and present him with a $250 bonus during their regular meeting on October 11th. His name will be engraved on a perpetual plaque that hangs in the William Arnold Service Building lobby, and he will receive an extra day off.
