08/13/2009 ~ At their regular meeting on Wednesday, August 12th, the Utility Board approved the contract for structural repairs to the Transmission Line (TIELINE) over water utility poles with Structural Preservation Systems, LLC for an estimated total of $639,960.
Structural Preservation Systems, LLC will perform repairs to approximately 150 TIELINE poles stretching form Key West to the east end of the Seven Mile Bridge. The project will focus mainly on structural repairs to the foundations of the utility
poles near the water line.
“Keys Energy Services is very unique in that large spans of our electric system are over water and fully exposed to the elements,” said Lynne Tejeda, KEYS’ General Manager & CEO. She added that, “the periodic refurbishment and repair of our over water infrastructure help to ensure the continued reliability of our system.”
Repairs to the over water utility poles last occurred in 2003.
The regular meeting of the Utility Board took place at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 12th, in the Louis Carbonell Board Room of the William Arnold Service Building, 1001 James Street, Key West.
